Abstract

Physalis angulata L. is a medicinal plant that originated in America. The chemical contents contained in this plant are alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroids, fatty acids, vitamins, sugar, filacin, and tannins. P. angulata is traded as a traditional medicinal herb in the form of a single concoction or simplicia are not intensively cultivated. Intensification of P. angulate need fertilizer, especially organic fertilizers such as guano. But study about it is still limited. This study aims and contribute to giving information about the ability of guano fertilizer on the growth, and production of flavonoids and saponins. The research design used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments of guano fertilizer, P in tons ha-1 (P0 = 0, P1 = 3, P2 = 6, P3 = 9, P4 = 12, and P5 = 15 tons ha-1) and are repeated 4 times. The results showed that differences in the dose of guano fertilizer significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, number of fruits, stem diameter, and root length. Whereas the number of flowers, wet weight, and dry weight of stover has no significant effect. The highest levels of flavonoids and saponins were shown by T3 treatment with a value of 4.16% in leaves, 0.192% flavonoids, and 0.28% saponins in fruit. In summary, guano was potentially used as fertilizer for P. angulata.
